Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a therapy which uses essential oils from plants and trees for their therapeutic properties: to promote the health of the body and well-being of the mind. Inhaling the aromas can stimulate areas of your limbic system which is a part of the brain that plays a role in emotions, physiological functions and long term memory.

How are Essential Oils used?

Massage is one of the best ways of getting the benefits of essential oils. An Aromatherapist will make up a blend specific for your needs, this will be absorbed into the body by the massage and create an effect.

For a specific need a consultation will be done and a bespoke blend  will be made for you. Inhalers, roller balls and balms are also an option. For pregnant clients a labour pack of items can be bought to support you through this wonderful but challenging time in your life. Also very helpful for fertility issues, stress, pain, menstrual issues, insomnia, anxiety, studying, headaches and many more issues.

Essential oils can also be used during reflexology which is a fantastic addition to the treatment. Other ways to use oils at home for self care is by:

  1. Hot and cold compresses

  2. Baths

  3. Oil burners and diffusers

  4. Steam inhalations

  5. Creams

  6. Flower waters and beauty products

Quality of essential oils

There are many cheaper, poor quality  synthetic essential oils on the market. This is why it is so important to buy from a reputable source. There are many Irish companies selling top quality oils and I buy from them, not only for quality but to support Irish businesses.

Safety of Oils

It is important to remember that essential oils are very powerful and need knowledge and training to use. If using for home care please check for any contraindications before use and never ingest them as this can cause serious problems internally.

Available for female clients only.

€75/1 Hour (includes oil blend for home use)

Fertility/Digestive Massage

Fertility/ Digestive massage is a wonderful therapy for digestive and fertility issues. Along with massage techniques it brings together many other aspects of healing, many going back hundreds of years. These include reflexology, energy healing, acupressure and trigger point work.

The main focus of this massage is the abdomen and lower back and sacrum. These areas are closely linked and many fertility issues can be traced to disorders in the digestive system. This massage increases circulation, thereby boosting the immune system and helping in the elimination of toxic waste.

Immunity, digestion and fertility are closely linked. An immune system that is not balanced is said to be a huge factor in unexplained infertility and up to 80% of miscarriages. Digestion problems can result in absorption issues so many vitamins and minerals which are essential for conception are lacking.

Our reproductive organs are the only dispensable organs in the body and can shut down if the body is not functioning at an optimal level. This is to allow the rest of the body’s essential organs to work properly. The result of this is a failure to conceive.

Through the many techniques used in this therapy circulation is increased to the reproductive organs and digestive system. This in turn allows the body to get rid of a build-up of waste and stagnation. It promotes hormonal balance, breaks down scar tissue and increases a feeling of wellbeing as the body is brought back into balance. Hot stones may also be used on the abdomen and lower back.

Stress levels are greatly reduced which is also one of the leading causes of unexplained infertility. Stress stored in the body triggers a negative hormonal response which is detrimental when trying to conceive.

The treatment is very gentle and non-invasive and induces deep relaxation in the client. Better sleep and reduced anxiety are noticeable after the first session in most people. It is highly recommended by most Fertility clinics to have a course of reflexology before IVF to increase the chances of success. Combining it with this massage therapy and using specific techniques would also be very helpful for such clients.

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage has its roots in Ayurveda, the ancient Indian medical system, now believed to be the oldest in the world.

On a physical level it helps relieve stiffness in the neck and shoulders and relieves headaches and migraines which are often brought on as a result of stress. The whole body relaxes during a treatment , releasing  tension and stress.

It begins with massage of the upper back, shoulders and upper arms are then worked, this is followed by the head massage which includes pressure points which are deeply relaxing and great at releasing tension in the body.

Massage of the chest and face is then done. Pressure points are also worked  on the face. This can give great relief for sinus issues or chronic pain from teeth grinding. An essential oil blend can also be used if desired which aids the relaxation process, also includes some for home use, €10 extra.

Pregnancy Massage

The changes expectant mothers experience as their bodies adjust to accommodate and sustain another life are enormous.

Pregnancy is typically accompanied by discomfort as tendons and skin are stretched, weight is gained, the structural alignment of the body changes, hormones are out of balance, organs are constricted and pressure on various body structures increases.

Studies have shown that regular massage, particularly from about thirty weeks until birth greatly reduced the mother’s perception of labour pain, thus reducing the amount of pain relief needed. Also excellent when combined with reflexology.

 Benefits

  • Reduces muscle discomfort

  • Increase lymphatic drainage and reduce edema

  • Increases flexibility

  • Improves sleep through stress reduction

  • Nourishes the foetus through increased blood circulation to fetal cells

Please check with your Doctor if you have any concerns about massage during your pregnancy.
